We upgraded to GSS 3 right after it was released and I downloaded the installer last week.
I learned by accident it isn't supported on ordinary Windows 7 but I tried anyway.
Completely failed - I've tried folder sharing and drive sharing and full control permissions but my domain user name won't authenticate
There are no local users with admin rights.
Additionally, we now have PIV credentialed authentication which the installer doesn't have provision.
server access is extremely restricted and we only have a skeleton IT staff so regular users are ghost managers
GSS2.5 is used by 3 training centers - St Louis, Pittsburgh, Denver - all with different networks, gateways, subdomains, and bandwidths - central serving of 42 Gig images is NOT and option.
I've spent 2 whole days struggling with the standard tools
crude and expensive in manhours if I can get it to work
GSS3 needs to be at desktop level and withing reach of regular people
suggest Symantec rethink and reGhost!
I'm glad I kept GSS2.5 - looks like we'll be using it for the foreseeable future
