This project simplifies Workflow/ServiceDesk log file analysis per a given TimeSpan.

The Range Slider motif used in this project was plagiarized from: http://atmaworkflow.com/2014/11/26/input-range-sliders/#more-630

Features:

  • The TimeSpan is selected via the Range Sliders. Search results will be centered about the DateTime definition.

  • The Form provides generated samples of compliant DateTime string values, which are derived from the selected Browser Language.
If the Sample DateTime string is selected, the value will populate the Form's DateTime string Text Box.
One can also cut&paste DateTime strings from a specific log file and use this as a correlation DateTime for your analysis.
  • One can narrow the search further using the case insensitive "Refine Search Text Pattern" Text Box.
The refinement Text Box supports Regular Expressions.
  • The Search Form provides a mechanism for defining "lines of context".
An example with (2) lines of context:

    (1) *** sd.email.monitor.log: 2908:0014 2015-01-25 08:45:00.426 Error Discarding invalid PM session
    (2) ... continued: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Verify Session ID failed

PENULTIMATE NOTE:
If you encounter complaints in the Results Form that look like this:

String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.
logicbase.serverextensions.exe.1.log: Browser Language does not match log format: January 28, 2015 7:29:04 PM !!! Tuesday, June 18, 2013 7:03:49 PM

Please adjust your Browser Language appropriately.

NOTE:
The range sliders will only render in a HTML5 capable Browser (IE10+).
You can still manually enter numbers within the appropriate range.
